It’s no secret that the world around us is changing and changing fast. Factors like technology disruptions and the changing workforce demographics is pushing our customers to not just adopt new technologies but also re-think and evolve their operating models and business processes. With concepts like continuous delivery and tools like PUM and FLUID, PeopleSoft is evolving too.
This year at PeopleSoft India SIG'17, we chose the theme of change and evolution to share the magic ingredients of our success with our customers and partners. In its third-year, India SIG'17 was sold out with over 100 registrations across 30+ customer and partner organizations. PeopleSoft India SIG is an annual customer and partner meet hosted by PeopleSoft Product Development.
SIG'17 was opened by Pramod Agrawal (VP – Development) and Srilakshmi Ramachandra (Director – Strategy) with an energizing keynote covering PeopleSoft's investment strategies and how customers can benefit from our ongoing innovations. The keynote rightly set the tone for two days full of strategic, functional and technical discussions.
Day One started with a spotlight on PeopleTools where our presenters demonstrated the new capabilities like Cloud Manager, Elastic Search, FLUID Enhancements, Simplified Analytics and more. The team lead by Deepankar Narayanan (Senior Director – PeopleTools), Biju Narayanan (Group manager – PeopleTools) and Ramasimha Rangaraju (Director – PeopleTools) used a captivating interview model for their presentations and ensured that every question the audience could think of - was answered.
The audience really engaged in a session on User Centric Designs. Our in-house usability experts Bharathi Mani and Alan Leonard shared the magic ingredient behind the FLUID UI Success and the PeopleSoft design philosophy. This was followed by a hands-on session where the audience was divided into teams and assigned a design challenge based on their area of interest. It was exciting to see the teams defining user personas, writing user stories and sketching navigation flows for the assigned challenges. Some of the teams were even able to come up with working prototypes of their solutions in less than an hour!
Day Two began with yet another interactive and engaging session where our Scrum Masters Vijayachandra K. Hanumantharao and Sreejith N. Thikkalveettil shared yet another magic ingredient behind the new age PeopleSoft. They introduced the audience to PeopleSoft continuous delivery with AGILE development through some hands on, fun activities. The session was followed by a presentation by one of our esteemed customers - HAYS, on their strategy to continuously consume the continuous delivery of PeopleSoft features.
The HCM sessions opened with a power packed keynote by Divkiran Kathuria (Senior Manager – Product Management) on how the world of work is changing and its impact on the modern organizations. The HCM Product Management team adopted the role playing method by acting as employees of a fictitious organization named SIG Inc. and demonstrated features like Fluid Candidate Gateway, Mobile Learning, Employee Snapshot, Fluid Company directory, Fluid HRHD Self Service and more to depict how PeopleSoft can help the customers achieve their organization goals. The Payroll team charmed the audience by presenting a short feature video that took the audience through a typical day in Payroll Administrator’s life and illustrated how PeopleSoft Global Payroll can help you resolve your payroll woes using functionality like Fluid Banking, Cobol Trace, Element Browser, Self Service Reporting Framework and Mobile Payslip. The demos were followed by a sneak peak of our future roadmap by Murali Vemaraju (Director – Product Management) and Pravas Bhagat (Group Manager – Product Development)
The FSCM break out track started with a Feature highlight and Roadmap overview by Christopher Bharath (Senior Director – Product Development). This was followed by Sudarshan Tadipatri who spoke about the theme for the Supplier Relationship product and demoed the “Fluid Comprehensive Supplier Portal” feature. Vishal Khanna gave an insight into various analytics that have been built in Project Costing, followed by the “Fluid Resource Profile” feature. Sriram Sadagopan presented the “Fluid Payment Request” feature, taking customers through creation of a payment request using the activity guide framework. These features were well received and customers realized the ease of use and productivity gain that they could achieve. The magic ingredient of FSCM breakout was the much awaited GST session which enlivened the afternoon proceedings. While Sriram demoed the tool for GST setup, tax determination and calculation in the Order to Cash and Procurement to Pay cycles, our GST functional expert Mohan Rajan, addressed the questions of customers around their specific business cases.
India SIG’17 turned out to be a complete blockbuster that brought the PeopleSoft Community in India together and delivered the ultimate attendee experience through our bite-sized magic ingredients.
